Saturday AM 4/7 Battenkill prep ride

Post by pace21 »

Since I missed out on the fun this past weekend, and I have another tight schedule this coming weekend I’ll pre-empt things by posting a Saturday ride before anyone else ;)

I’m proposing another “triple H” ride (hard, hilly, hammer), otherwise known as a Battenkill tune-up. No stops so bring what you need with you (i.e. a race simulation). The route will be new to most of you, but trust me that it is a lot of up and down on primarily great roads. The mileage total doesn’t do justice to this one……

Meet at my house for a 9am clip-in. I need to be back by 12:30pm at the latest, so that means we’ll be jammin’. By the way I can start as early as you like but I’m trying to entice the late risers….

Here’s the proposed ride loop:

I got a new one for you too, a little gem I just found recently -- Mann School Rd in Smithfield. Good times.

Likely in, need to get two of the three cherubs to skating. Will confirm later today.

Hey Chris

This sounds good, how long do you plan on going? I woould like a little shorter than the 4 hours we did last week but at the same all out intensity

My schedule says be home by 12:30 so it will be 3.5 hours max. I can adjust the route accordingly. Or I can easily make it a 52 mile loop which is probably like 3 hours.

Hey Chris, I think that 3 hours would be great with lots of good intesity on the hills and strong roll in between

To climb steep hills requires a slow pace at first.

Can we keep it at 60miles and just ride fast? I'd like to mimic the Battenkill length as much as possible.

Here, this loop is 57 miles door to door. It will probably be the same elapsed time as B'kill since we won't have a pack pulling us along the flats:

I'm in! (Famous last words) I don't have time for the whole loop but hope to hang on until at least the Cumberland/Lincoln area.

Since I'll be on a beach drinking cerveza next weekend I thought I better come and see your pained faces this weekend.
