Re: VT 6 Gaps - Saturday Sept 8, 2017
Wish I could so this, although 4 gaps is plenty for me, and I'm signed up to race Quad Cross on Sunday!

Just a follow up to the 6 gaps ...
It was epic. John R, Mike W, and I did it.
132mi, 12k of climbing. 50/60's partly sunny weather. Perfect. No mechanicals.\
For sure it was a long long day in the saddle 8+ hrs. But we didnt hate each other by the end so thats considered a success!
I surely was the slow climber in the group but gladly we were all on the same page of finishing rather than beating down. Though John and Mike did beat themselves up on some of the climbs.
It would have been nice to have a few more in the group to help pull between each gap.
We started in Rochester. Hit Brandon and Middlebury Gaps first. They were fairly easy.
Next was Lincoln and App Gaps. Definitely the hardest. Lincoln was all paved going up. Next time I do this Id gear to 1:1 just for lincoln. I think that mashing took a toll. Strava says lincoln gap has 20% grade toward the top. I believe it. I ran a 34x28 and paperboyed a bunch.
Those 4 gaps put us at 93mi and over 8k ft of climbing.
Warren has a great country store with some tasty sandwiches and pastries.
Then we pushed on to Roxbury and Rochester werent bad, but I think they legs were getting tired. Rochester I struggled to turn the pedals over, glad that was the home stretch.
Im kind of thinking that maybe starting in Warren, VT and hitting Lincoln and Ap Gaps first might be the better way to do it. Then Roxbury and Rochester Gaps. That will leave Brandon and Middlebury as the last gaps and that might not be bad since they are easier.
This is one of those bucket list rides. Well worth it. Next year Im hoping to plan it earlier. Early drive up and drive back same day is totally doable.
