Thought I start a separate thread to make it less confusing.
Jeff and I are in. Maybe scott. Who else?

Bruce,
Turns out I had plans I didn't know about this morning. I can ride starting at 11:30am though. Feel free to post or call me 508-380-0960 if that time works for you. No problem if you can't alter the time.
Jeff

BT,
I'll meet you if this is not a hammerfest but a "time in the saddle" sort of ride with some efforts and recoveries.

That ride emptied the tank completely. I know it wasn't a hammerfest at all but I got home and napped.
A few more of those and maybe I'll be ready to race.

Michael, I knew I wasn't ready to race, but proved it by showing up for the Saturday AM CRW "fitness" ride out of Newton. I now know I only have 30 minutes of racing in my legs after getting dropped after at about mile 12 of the 42 mile route. (Battenkill is going to kill.)
If anyone out there wants a good road race simulation, check out this ride. If you start at the front of the fast 42 mile group (there are many groups - must have been almost 100 people at the starting area) the riding is fast and pretty orderly. I stayed in the top 10-12 for the first 30 minutes, then slowly slipped off the back on a long, gentle climb. I'm not sure how many started in that group, as I never looked back, but about 15 guys ended up staying in the front group. Ended up in a group of 4 that kept the pace pretty high all the way home, so I still ended up with a very good workout.
That was my first time doing that ride, but it won't be the last.

You had never done the Tues night worlds?

Yeah,
That ride is basically the Tuesday nite Worlds. Sometimes it's really hot sometimes it's not so bad. Depends who shows up.
I can't put out a race effort like that unless I've been on the bike all week. I can't rest up for hard rides; I feel worse than if I had ridden everyday.
This week I couldn't ride Sunday through Friday so my legs were dead. I might feel tired after riding four or five straight days but the machine runs better (and faster).

I have not done the official TNWC ride, but one day when Wells was cancelled Jim English and I joined about 6 other guys and we did the same loop. That was tough, but I expect the TNWC might be even harder.
