I'm heading out this afternoon. Was thinking of riding the Purgatory RR course a couple of times but willing to meet elsewhere in area if others are around.

Rob, I'd love to do this ride with you sometime. Saturday or Sunday?

PJ - that'd be great. It'd have to be Sunday. We have our town meeting tomorrow for the new high school at 10am and I have no idea how long that may go.
Purgatory x 2 actually wasn't too bad. That second time up Lackey Rd was painful though.

Let me double check w/ my wife on kid's plans but I'm thinking around 11am. I can ride over to Millbury and meet you on the road.

Duh, thus your post "Purgatory RR".
How is the course?

Bruce,
It's a great course. A climber's course I'd say. The first 30 mins are rolling with a one semi-wall on Hill St. The Purgatory climb is about the halfway point. It's a 10-15 mins climb depending on your fitness. It's steep at the start, but after that it's more about endurance. After Purgatory there's a long descent and more rollers until the end of the lap where you hit a meandering climb (Lackey Rd). It's steep, painful, and long enough to destroy a group. It's likely where the race will be decided. There's no race flyer for this event yet, but I'm assuming the 5s would be 1 lap, 4s 2, and 3s 3 laps, but I don't know. Come ride it with us!
Rob,
I'm pretty open tomorrow if you're available. I'll check back here later.

PJ -
I'm wide open today. It looks like it should be up in the 20s by 11am. I could start riding over around 10:45 to meet by 11am in Millbury if that works. Or we could push it back to noon for a few more degrees. Doesn't matter to me. We're not heading to our friends SB party until 5ish.

Noon is a good idea. 5 degrees helps when it's this cold. I'll be in front of Asa Waters mansion (the one with the gazeebo in front) at noon - across from the library. Bundle up!

Hey Rob and PJ: you both have great fitness for early February! me - not so much
By the thermometer it didn't look as cold as it felt. I don't know about you guys but after I split off I downed all my food but still felt like there was nothing in the tank.
Gary - I agree regarding the road conditions. The couple of roads before purgatory are all in awful shape.

Carl - glad to hear you made it home o.k. And agreed - some road work needs to be done on the road leading into Purgatory - it's always in rough shape.

Carl: I learned last winter: never bonk when it's cold. Your core temp never recovers. Gotta eat before you get hungry.
