Free Zipp race wheels - NEW!

Post by irusk »

Sorry, no free wheel sets here, but I figured this was the best way to get the attention of this group. I thought about "Naked Pics of Jessica Alba" but went with "free race wheels" after careful consideration of the audience.

The real subject of this post is STERLING ROAD RACE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED. The race date this year is Saturday May 8th (day before Mother's Day). We need people for the following tasks:

1.) Volunteer squad leaders (I'd like to have 2 folks to help me recruit volunteers, help coordinate race morning and throughout the day, deliver lunch to marshals, etc)
2.) Early AM course set up (starting 6AMish)
3.) Intersection Marshals (this is where we need the most bodies, 7:30AM - 4:30ish, half-day shifts are cool, full-day makes you a hero)
4.) Race Day Registration Table
5.) Pre-race course sweeping (Friday afternoon/evening)
6.) Post-race clean-up

Dave P is handling drivers (see his earlier post)

We need a minimum of 30 folks, so please post up if you can volunteer. The first race lines up at 8:15AM, last race should finish by 4:30PM.

Remember that MRC member benefits come with the very modest obligation to volunteer your time to support club activities such as this, so please post up for one of the above assignments and fulfill your volunteer obligation for 2010.

Thanks,
Ian

nice subterfuge. was planning to marshall w lawn chair and cooler under a shady tree, kicking back and enjoying watching other people suffer. don't know who jessica alba is. does she resemble Sophia Loren?

I can do pre-race setup and/or corner marshaling. I'm available all day.

You're really dating yourself Joe. I'll let you be the judge... (of course about 40 years separates them)

Joe's getting quite a fix of Sopia here. I gotta admit, when you factor in that she was well before the days of boob jobs and collagen lip injections, you gotta give her the nod.

But back on the real subject (Sterling Volunteers), I see lots of views here, but still only a few sign ups. Come on folks, time to earn your keep!

Ian, sorry I can't make it this year. I'll be out of town for my son's college graduation - can't skip that.

Hi Ian-

I'm happy to help, and am also available all day. Even though it would be difficult to carry a lawn chair and a 12-pack, I would be interested in riding over there Steve.

On a related topic, I thought this video might be appropriate for this thread....

Ian - new guy here. I'm planning to race cat 5 (read: get smoked like last year after a lazy winter) and can help marshal after that.
