SQB w/ Westboro start again?

Anyone up for another SQB (Saturday Quad Buster) this Saturday? Meet at Roche Bros again at 10am (flexible on start time). Thinking we could head right to the Purgatory course and get at least 2 laps there and then hit some of the area's highlights - Town Farm, Uxbridge Rd, Purgatory, etc before heading back. Probably in the area of 60 miles total. Who's in?

I'm likely. 10am should be OK (wife's out of town, and have a sitter arranged for 10 am, so just need to check if the sitter could come at 9:30 instead. Shouldn't be a problem).

Likely. I have a wedding to attend sometime on Saturday but it is local and I think later in the afternoon. I will let you know.

Rob, I looked up the old route from the previous SQB thread. It looks like you climbed past Purgatory at mile 17ish. I could definitely park and meet you there as you are going by, around 11am or so. If you do a different route I can adapt.

If you added an extra race course loop (10 miles around) to that route it would put you around 60 miles.

Wow, 10am start? Very unMRC like. I'm in.
Sounds like I should put on the 25

Chris - we can keep that route. It's nice warmup leading to Purgatory. We might make some slight detours heading there but it will be the same time for arrival at Purgatory. You're required to ride to the bottom to meet us though - :o

Bruce - a 25 will be nice for a couple of times up Lackey, let alone the 4+ times in the actual race.

Normally the route/time would be ideal, but I have to be out early for a ride. (7 a.m.) Mem. Day Cookout early afternoon. I'm up riding Monday morning anytime though.

Sounds like you, Carl and Stephan need to work together on this.

When you see the pace for the ride as a whole it looks like a pedestrian 16-17mph but everyone hits the hills as hard as they can and we regroup. The trouble anyone new tends to have is the aggreagtion of the hill work over time. Very good B2B training though...

I'm out for this session: wifey grumbled loudly "You get up to ride at 5 a.m. all week and on Saturday you're gonna head out late?"

Doin' the Stow 2 looper instead.

Gary -
I figure we'll do the same route out to Purgatory, including the Benson Rd detour. Then we can switch it up once we get you and Chris.

Just to be clear - the meeting place in WBoro is behind the Roche Bros. Correct?

I'll plan to be at the (North) Purgatory Chasm parking lot (on the right side heading away from 146) at 11am. If anything changes, I'll text Rob. If I'm not there for any reason, don't wait for me. If I'm late I'll just run the race course backwards until we meet up.

My cell is 508596829zero if you're plans change.

Bruce,

What's wrong? Scared?

I plan to be there. I'll probably ride from my house and meet you along the road near Upton State Park.

Since we have several people meeting on the road - we will leave Roche Bros as close to 10 as possible, head out 135 to Upton/Westboro Rd (passing Upton State Park where we should see Michael and Gary), then head out thru Upton towards Northbridge. If we have time (and everyone in tow) we might pass Gary's house for additional climbing fun and then head over to Purgatory via Benson Rd and Goldthwaight Rd. This should get us to Chris in Purgatory at 11.

I really hate being the slow kid that can't keep up. I knew I was in trouble when I almost got dropped on a flat road about 5 miles in. But I survived ride #9, barely.
How is Rob still a 4? I can't imagine losing to anyone in a 4 race if I was that strong. If I can ever regain that kind of fitness I'll be working on my upgrade to 2.
I wish I was in good enough shape to give you some support in a race.
