PJ and I talked about doing a 4 hour relatively flat tempo ride. Marlboro-Concord-Marlboro, with a bonus loops around Carlyle and Hanscom.

Leaving my house at 11AM, passing through Sudbury at 11:30.

My espresso machine and milk frother will be producing post-ride tasty deliciousness. :D

Interested in joining y'all in Sudbury area. Is there a location in Sudbury I can meet you? I'll probably be heading north (from Holliston) through Framingham and into Sudbury - Union Street and rt 27. If you're in the area I'll look for you.

Len: We're headed right for Union & Rt 27, then left on Concord Rd. Hopefully we'll see you there.

That was a really sweet hard ride. Need to do this more often.

Yes, great route and nice to have flat roads for a change. Though with that brutal wind and Smudger taking long pulls it didn't feel so flat. :o

Fellas, Sorry I missed you. I had time constraints that dissolved as I got lost on the backside of Carlisle. Saw sections of Billerica and Chelmsford I had not intended to visit. Enjoyed that last mile or two with you guys though. Next week?
BTW, rode the Saturday morning CRW route this week and it was brutal. I rode it frequently last year and it always has a serious, race-paced group. This week seemed surreal. Brutal race-pace with attacks throughout. But there was a 50 minute stretch where my HR monitor was between 160 and 177. Not below 160 during that period. I was gasping and struggling to stay in the game and would claw my way onto someone's wheel assured that it would calm down. Then someone else would attack and the group was off again. I'd feel a bit ballsy and would jump off the front for a turn and get buried after pulling off. And there were two guys we were chasing the whole time who could neither get away nor could we reel in. No matter what we did the distance never seemed to close ... until the red light in Dover Center.
I'm planning on doing it again next Saturday if anyone wants to join me.

Been there....

Len, do you (or anyone?) have a link to the "standard" CRW saturday morning ride route? Also what time does it go off? I did a quick google search but there were conflicting results as to ride distance, route, and start time. I could potentially ride up toward Dover and meet up with a portion of the ride.

Thanks.

Chris-

This link http://ridewithgps.com/routes/330226 has the 42 mile loop of the CRW ride. There's a 28 mile version that omits the "lollypop" off Bridge St. (around mile 13) and a 14 mile version that turns off somewhere (not sure where).

Chris,
The 42 mile route is the race-pace slugfest. I leave from Holliston and meet the route on Western Ave in Sherborn (in the lollipop) and ride it backward until I meet the group. Depending when I leave, usually around 8:30, the same time the ride leaves from Needham, I catch the ride after about 5 miles or so in Dover which gives me a good warm-up.
