Newport Amica 19.7 Sprint Tri

For those that don't know the Amica Sprint Tri series is a 10 race series. It consists of a .5 mile swim, 16.1 mile bike and 3.1 mile run. This series distance was determined based on the founding of Amica in 1907. Personally the series favors my strengths of swimming and biking. This is the second year for the Newport race and they instituted a two transition area race this year due to strong ocean currents last year. The race was well managed despite the severe weather the night before. Most roads were saturated, wet with puddles. I ended up putting on my rain wheels for the event. The swim was very foggy and water temp around 65. I had my best swim of the year averaging 1:09/100yds, 10:09 for the .5mile swim. My bike time was also fast averaging almost 22mph on wet roads. Finished the run strong for me given it is my weakest leg, averaging 7:23 pace. Finished 14th overall and 1st in my age group, strong finish for the season. Should have a strong USAT score for this race and climb in the standings.
