Wachusett Mtn Auto Road is OPEN

Finally ... the road is open (opened Sat 10/8/2011). The auto road surface is spectacular - makes the climb easier?! Descending is now a dream, instead of a nightmare of hidden dips, cracks and holes. A bazillion hikers up there today. They seem to still be working on the tower(s) at the top, and a large summit area is fenced off, but you can still reach the summit along the right side.
