Wed 7/18 - Stow Plaza 5:45

It'll be hot - so let's go ride bikes!

The usual program: hard up the hills, regroup in between. If we have the right mix (Chris and enough others willing to suffer), we may try to claw back Chris' KOM on Oak Hill. Also, there was talk last week that the descent from Oak Hill is under construction, so we may require a minor detour.

Who's in?

Sorry, I'd love to help MRC take back the Hill but I can't make it tomorrow night......

Wow I didn't notice that Tommy 10K put 20sec on Chris' effort. That's insane. Solo, too, according to the Strava file.

When last I went up Oak Hill (with Gary David), we had to turn left at the stop sign (Pinnacle) and go past the front of Carlson Orchards to get to the center of Harvard. A detour sign was posted at the Pinnacle/Old Schoolhouse Road intersection.

Since the detour required additional climbing and miles, it is an approved deviation from the regular route.

Sadly, I will be miles away suffering while trying to photograph college professors in a thunderstorm.

Notice how he went up it 4 times at insane speeds, very impressive.

In for tomorrow night.

In, depending on the pace. How fast were you guys planning on going?

Don't worry about the pace, Mason: it's a no-drop ride. The group will wait at the top of each climb to regroup. If there are enough riders present, a separate "B" (slower) group will sometimes form and go at their own pace in between the climbs. Since Stefan posted, he's the defacto ride leader and will make sure everyone knows what's-what before you set out from Stow Plaza.

Read about the route here.

Update on my shoot: because of the weather, all of my subjects have rescheduled for the morning except (of course) one, who no one has been able to contact. So, my status has changed to "maybe."

Mason-

Come on out. We will break up on the climbs, but this ride will regroup at the tops.

In, but I will be attempting to prevent overheating of the system by not following the Strava-whipped boys on the hills. (Rode to work today @ 7:30 AM at a very sedate pace and still got to work sweating like a pig.)

I believe the proper term is "Strava whores."

Hey guys, not sure what the weather's like in Stow. Is the ride still on?

We've had a few brief showers where I am (Framingham) and the skies to the north look pretty reasonable. The weather radar suggests that most of the heavy stuff is staying to the south of the Mass Pike.

I'm going to assume we're on unless conditions change dramatically

Hit heavy weather and street flooding in Hudson and headed home. Don't think I can make Stow on time - I'm out.

If Hudson is flooded then stow can't be clear.
I suggest a TMR.
Anyone?
BTW... Hailing here now.

No rain yet in Acton although I just got a severe weather alert on my phone warning of flash flooding until 8:30

I'm out, the traffic was backed up all along the 495. I'm up for a TMR or any other ride this week.
