White Park CX

Post by pcollins »

I staged second row behind Rowell, got a pretty good start and was in the top 6-ish going into the first corner, then someone dive-bombed me on the inside causing me to lose ~ 3 positions. I made enough passes in the first couple laps to make it up to Rowell and Berliner (the same group I was in at Quad CX). I hung with them for a bit and then got some separation from them in the power section before the barriers. There was a chase group of 3 ahead of me (trying to catch Mcnicholas, who had a big gap) that I tried bridging to. It was pretty windy and they were working together while I was solo, so I knew it would be a long shot to catch them. Wissell, who was in the chase group, crashed out, so I was now in 4th. I found all the good lines, had a good rhythm going, and kept on the gas all the way to the finish, to take 4th place, just off the podium and just out of the money. It was pretty hot and I’m glad I carried a water bottle. The course was technical, rooty, dry and decently hilly, with not many power sections and pretty long run-up. Evidence of the good amount of running I did is the blister on my heel. I feel like I raced well and I’m happy with my result.
