**VOLUNTEERS NEEDED** for Ken Harrod Road Race
Posted: Tue Apr 26, 2016 8:20 pm
Hello Fellow MRC’ers!
It’s time to help with one of the biggest events of the MRC year, the Ken Harrod Memorial Road Race. This year's event will be held on June 4 on the same roads as last year winding through beautiful Harvard, MA.
MRC needs YOU to make this event a success. We need people to help as drivers, marshals, and registration volunteers to keep things running safe and smooth on the day of the race.
The volunteer sign-up sheet can be found here: http://www.volunteersignup.org/H37FM. Signing up as soon as you can helps keep your promoters’ blood pressure low.
Got a question? First, check the FAQ's below. If your answer’s not there, email your friendly Volunteer Coordinator at Wawersik at yahoo dot com.
Thanks in advance,
Stefan
FAQ
Q. If I'm signed up to race, can I still volunteer?
A. If it's a question of one or the other, we strongly encourage you to prioritize volunteering over racing, as putting on a successful race is extremely important to the club, and we can't do it without volunteers. If you want to do both, however, we're more than willing to work with you to make that happen.
Q. I’m not an MRC member. Can I still volunteer?
A. A thousand times YES! We’d be very grateful for your help.
Q. I've never done this before. Is it hard?
A. No. If we can teach Jeremy to do it, we're confident we can teach you too.
Q. What's the best job to sign up for?
A. Some people like seeing the race from the lead and follow cars. Others like getting the chance to see all their skinny bike racer friends while they work the registration table. Still others like watching the race go by from their marshaling posts, while they chat with the locals about cycling. Really, all the jobs have their charms and challenges.
Q. How important is my help?
A. Seriously, without volunteers, we simply could not put on this race. And the race itself is one of THE most important events of the year - without it, there's no Race Team, no MTB Trip, essentially no MRC. So PLEASE, do what you have to do and put your name on the sign-up sheet!
