Saturday, 2 Sept. long-ish gravel(?) ride

I'm planning on doing a 4-6 hour endurance ride on Saturday. I'd like to hit some gravel & dirt roads, maybe some tame trails, in the Rutland, Wachusett area, as I still have the tires I used for the Vermont Overland setup on my CX bike and would love to use them again this weekend. I have a general route in mind but not built yet. If the people who are interested don't want to ride dirt, we could do a regular road ride.
Meetup location could maybe be the Old Stone Church in West Boylston. Start time negotiable, maybe 10am to let the temp increase a bit.
Anyone interested in an adventure on a beautiful day?

Ugh. I was planning almost this exact thing but more like 3-4 hours starting at 8am... I don't know too many gravel routes so I'd be wholly reliant on you for nav. If you want to go later/longer it's totally no problem and I'll do my own thing. I'm hiking Monadnock in the afternoon so not much flexibility.

You and a thousand of your friends for an afternoon hike :) I'd recommend the Pumpelly trail up the backside. I might see you there.

Carl, that sounds pretty rude to me.

Pat, Chris any consensus on the ride? I could go the 4 - 6 Pat suggested, but I wouldn't be terribly disappointed if we did 3 - 4 as Chris suggested. Pat, gravel is okay, but not the crap you had us on on that shit-show ride last year. Dirt like the Rose 32 ride a few weeks ago is more like it. Whatever for start time/location.

Kevin, I was thinking that this ride would be done on CX bikes with gravel or CX tires, so going offroad would be the main point. Sounds like you want to ride roads that we could do on our road bikes, which we could do, but I think CX bikes would be more fun!
Chris, I think I'd like to go longer and start later if other people (Kevin) are interested in doing that as well.

That's cool, kinda what I expected. I might head down the SNETT to Douglas or Thompson and back. Hoping to find some shit show terrain on my 'cross bike ;)

This sounds like fun. If only I had a CX/gravel bike...

Okay, the CX bike is fine. Just keep in mind it's not a MTB. 😉. It's been a little dry lately so hopefully no roads with 18" of water on them like the shit-show.
