I’m planning to do the 6:30pm zwift group workout tomorrow if anyone wants to join. The name of the workout is “Revolution Coaching Power Pyramids” and you can see the description on whatsonzwift.com

More of a workout than I'm supposed to do tonight but I'm in.

That was a pretty good workout. It was a little tough to keep the power steady but it got better with each interval.

Brian are you on a smart trainer w/erg? I found even with that that there was a fair bit of bouncing around of the power. The interval averages were spot on though so no foul. Was a good workout though, legs are jello-y right now.

Ya Chris, Wahoo Snap in ERG mode I think. Where did you see a break down of each interval? I like that Trainerroad does that but I haven't seen that in a Zwift workout.

It displays a "PERFECT" occasionally after the interval, but mostly my comment was a subjective feel for the power variation in erg mode, i.e. how well the zwift/computrainer combo can hold a set wattage. It seemed like what should have been 280 watts constant bounced around from 250 to 310 quite a bit, but with an average of 280. Not a big deal.

I agree, I had "perfect" stars on all but a couple intervals. That works out to close enough for me.

I think that was the first time I got perfect on all the intervals. Normally I fail the recoveries. It helped that the recoveries were at 60% and not 50.

Pare, what was your watt target on the last 1 min interval. I went to 105%, I'm assuming you went to 110% because we both went off the front at similar w/kg

My set point was 325w which was 100%. But that was the variability that I’m talking about, it easily could have been 360w for 5-10 seconds and then sub 300w after that. Maybe the group dynamics/physics/drafting has individual effects even in erg mode? That would surprise me but definitely there is a variability difference between individual workouts and group workouts.

Were you only using the computrainer for smart controller and power? Or the computrainer for controller and the powertap for power measure? If the latter, then I think zwift tries to adjust what it sends to the trainer to get the power right.

Latter, and yeah I forgot about that extra feedback loop. I’ll probably go back to using the CT for power measurement during workouts and leave the powertap for rides and races.

With the KICKR I get very smooth power numbers for entire intervals, which correlates with how my legs are feeling the resistance. I looked at my data for the top of the pyramid and it only fluctuated +/-4W for the whole interval.
