Zwift group rides? FMR?

Will there be any MRC based group rides this year on Zwift? Due to time constraints and a desire to hurt myself would anyone be interested in doing the fmr rides on Zwift like last year had?

We are considering doing a ThMR series, and are open to suggestions. It would be great to find someone else's recurring ride to jump onto but most rides just aren't as good as ours

Also there's now the ability to use worldswap to host our event in whatever course we want.

And there's double draft, which should make it easier for lighter guys to stay in the pack at a given W/kg Target.

I'm not sure if we want to fix our event to a single world, but I definitely want double draft

With the clock change this weekend I'm hoping we can get in a few more road FMRs.

i've dropped zwift, as it was mostly just visual stimulation to go along with my trainerroad workouts, but I'm interested in the new drafting method, and of course getting on some club group rides. I think the biggest letdown on zwift when I got my Hammer was that drafting never really felt like drafting.

We should move this conversation to the new virtual rides channel.

But,
The evr Asia ride at 6am timorrow has double draft...

Drafting has no effect on workouts, since you are on fixed power output. It should be noticeable on group rides, where you output less power to keep up.

On that topic, just wondering what the impetus is to change to Thursday?

On that topic, just wondering what the impetus is to change to Thursday? And does the SweatFest Winter Race Series on Wednesdays @ 6:15 PM change the calculus?

I'm agreeing with Kevin on that one. If we hit it Wednesday night Friday would be a better option.

Some people can't do Fridays. Running the event is fun but also a PITA and a commitment. I wfh on Fridays, but was thinking it would be nice to sleep in Friday. Then I could do the zwift be rides on Thursday morning and just be late for work.

Also if it is Thursday then it doesn't conflict with the real fmr and I don't have to make decisions the night before at those times of the year when both are options.

would be nice to find some other event to jump into, but the ones that are well run that are more than just 1 hour at threshold are few and far between.

But you do such a great job of keeping it organized! But I know what a pain it is.

I think that's the reason why there are so few well run events, it takes work.

Thursday is fine with me. If you wanted multiple groups I am not yet ready to hang in the front of a B or A group but I am could lead a B group. For the time being I don't go to work until 12pm.

+1 for Thursdays. I noticed someone else has a Hammer on here- you getting power drops in zwift??

@Rob power drops aren't tied to specific units. It's one of the flaws using a wireless system. I have cyclops Magnus and I went through hell getting my set up to be mostly stable. There are pages and pages of help tips on how to fix these issues.

https://zwiftinsider.com/ is a good one to look through. Also, check out GP Lama on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbcwZ8 ... on_S_CgmFA

Hi Rob, I think there was an issue with older hammer firmware where power would drop off momentarily in zwift (happened to me on a couple of occasions whilst racing), but I think with the most recent firmware that isn't an issue (at least it hasn't for me in the few times I've done simulation mode rides in zwift)

I'd vote for a hard Thursday ride, that allows for an easy Friday then harder workouts over the weekend. We got a long winter ahead of us.

I agree, with Tuesday as the obvious other hard day.

I like what you two are thinking. I could use some chasing. I was taught to race to train to race and this fits that bill.

+1 for sleeping in.

You guys decide thursday or Friday doesn't matter to me.
