8am from Townsend State Forest dirt parking lot (see route)

define gravel: you can do it on a roadbike with 25's or you need a gravel bike. Also, if I do it I know I would be dropped and that's ok.

I guess technically it's doable, but you're going to want wider tires with tread meant for dirt or you won't be happy. And then there's gearing: typical 34 - 28 gearing with 25mm road tires will make you VERY unhappy. :cry:

There are definitely gravel routes that you could ride a road bike on. This isn't one of them. There are several class VI roads that are short but pretty gnarly. You'd probably break your bike or your face or both. Plus we descend at mach speed and you'd be left for dead...
