Saddle recommendations

Post by pwess »

Team MRC -

Been riding the Profile Tri-Stryke the last couple of years and the cushion is worn to where I'm riding on the plastic supporting the cut-out...

I liked it when it was new so it's still in the running for a return engagement.

Looking for recommendations, comments, pros and cons on saddles as I will be making the change this weekend/next week. If it matters this is my tri bike - Softride Rocket TT7 (sorry to be invading the roadies board but wanted your take as well).

All comments welcome!

Much appreciated.

I really like Specialized Alias Body Geometry saddle. Ridden it for way to many mile on my road bike with no complaints. I think the width options they do make a lot of sense. May want a slightly longer saddle for a TT bike but I'm sure Specialized probably do a TT/Tri specific version now.

Paul,
I switched to the Fizik Arione a few years ago (from the Selle San Marco) and now have Fiziks on all my bikes. It's very comfortable on the long hauls and because its fairly long from nose to tail I find on my P3 it allows me to shift my position way forward when I'm in the aero bars, and slide back when climbing seated.

I just switched to Fizik Aliante, the thing fits like a glove.....I'd be skeptical of its application to a TT bike though....

thanks Ian and Scott. I'll give Fizik a look-see. Ian, your comment on the length is great as I like to get way up front on the saddle.

thanks again

i would recommend you stick with what you have unless you have reason to change. the danger in changing saddles (particularly if you have been riding one for a long time) is the change in location on where you and the saddle meet. since you rode it enough to wear the cover down the the plastic, i am thinking you have put many many miles into the saddle, and you probably have callouses where you and the saddle intersect. if the new saddle introduces a change in where you and it meet, you will probably need to build up new callouses. if you do go with a new saddle, hopefully you will have the opportunity to return it after 100 or so miles if you decide then that you dont like it. (i have been using selle san marco, and love them.)
