I went to the Wachusett Mountain and as of Today - or late last night they stopped letting people go past gate at the Ranger station ( "they" being the construction workers - they were not grouchy btw )
It seems that there was a cyclist riding last night with his head down - while a bucker loader was moving about. The constuction worker could not get the attention of this very focused rider and the rider came within inches of the machinery.
So.. now they are not allowing cyclist and even runners past the gate.

Last Night - a friend of mine road up near the Summit - he stated that they were working on the summit and he could not go up - but was able to go on the Down road.
Today - When I was on the MTN- the contruction worker stated that they have dug up a large hole accross the road past the gate - near the base of the DOWN HILL road ( on the left- ski left overhead ).
The workers anticipate being there for another 3-5 weeks. They will be working from 0730 - ~ 5pm daily .
I know that the people that work at Wachusett are very supportive of cyclist and hope that some numbskulls can be considerate if/when turned away. I had heard that a few people that were turned away were not very gracious and displayed a digit or two.
Please pass this on to other riders that you know... so they can adjust there workouts !
Mile Hill Road is open

They have not posted anything on the Wachusette website yet.
