CRW C2C Sunday 7/19

Post by rusto »

Who else is doing the 100 mile route?

Anyone want to do the 60 mi. route on Tuesday or Wednesday as a "tune up"?

I am in for the century-

resting my knee this week- so no tune up ride over 30 miles:)

I planning on doing the 60 mile route from the school in Bolton, MA at 8am. For those who are interested about the status of the summit road, I rec'd this message from Ken Hablow at CRW:

"It was touch and go with the access road but the weather has delayed the construction so I doubt we will be able to use the road to the top. Everything else will remain the same. The only other glitch is part of the road past the Sterling airport is currently under water. yesterday there was about 2"-3" right in the middle at the top of the crown. I may have to detour around this but it will be fully arrowed. If this is necessary I will post it on the CRW website. I may do it regardless as it adds back in some of the lost mileage. Ken"

I am a Cat 5, so I plan to ride a good pace for training, but not a blistering one. Done by noon-ish with some food/water stops.

"Under water" only at the edges. We rode through it on Saturday, and going down the middle is fine (shoes will get wet). There might be a detour around another road because of tree work from the storm this past winter.

100 milers: can we set up a rendezvous location/time at CCHS so we can at least start out as a group? I'm not familiar with the layout there, so I'm looking for someone to suggest something.

I'm hoping to get going soon after registration opens at 7 a.m. and so will be there at 6:30-6:45.

I'll be pedaling in from Maynard, MRC kit fully pressed. I'll see you at 6:15, Joe.
