Sunday Ride
Good ride today; 7 sets of wheels. I'm going out again tomorrow mid-day. I'm open to suggestions, but in the absence of any...I'm thinking 11AM at Guisseppe's.
Re: Sunday Ride
I'm in for this and happy to ride anywhere outdoors. If you want to ride some different roads from today I have a nice flattish couple of hour loop from Stow/Acton that heads out through Littleton to Carlisle and back through Concord but I'm happy to ride from Giuseppe's also.
Re: Sunday Ride
I am probable - I'll confirm for sure in the morning. I'm up for either Giuseppe's or for a Stow/Acton loop.
Re: Sunday Ride
11 a.m. sounds good. I'm up for a change. Let me know where.
Re: Sunday Ride
mid-day, flat route, cordial pace, 2 hour max - these are my conditions. will bring beer .
Re: Sunday Ride
OK lets meet at the usual spot in Stow at 11am
Joe does 11count as mid-day?

Re: Sunday Ride
I agree: something different. Stow at 11. I'm in. I'm guessing "the usual place" is the Shaw's?
Re: Sunday Ride
11 am !!!!! Really? Damn I think I might want to become a roadie. Kimball Jesus you will have worked out and gone to bed again by then I am sure .

Re: Sunday Ride
In for another slow and steady day in the saddle.
Re: Sunday Ride
Nice ride today guys... well, except maybe the snowmobiling section
Always fun to have that much company in January.
And Bruce... I also had average of 147W overall, but not a lick of consistency to be found

Re: Sunday Ride
Yes thanks guys that was a lot of fun. Sorry for taking the gamble through Great Brooks.
Great reminder that trainer miles are just not the same. Road miles are much tougher.

Re: Sunday Ride
Rich, re: wattage, your download should give you a 'norm' wattage number, which would give you a more accurate figure for the ride. It would factor out stoppages and low effort stretches like the bobsled run. For example, my ride had an avg. figure of 144w, but the norm figure was 201w. fyi.
Re: Sunday Ride
That's probably about what I would have ended up with but my battery went dead after Middlesex fairgrounds> the ride was a lot steadier after that and I spent more time at front. I didn't look at normalized w, but you are right -- there is little diff if you are sitting on a trainer, but it a group ride thre is a big diff.
Do you have ANT+ capabable on your PT? If so the Garmin Edge 500 would work......this thing is pretty cool. Download the ride to garmin connect and can share it with anyone who wants to see the route map and all the watts, elev climbed, HR, speed, temperature, cadence, etc. It also shows you uphill wattages. But the coolest thing is that you can recreate the ride -- memorize it and it'll tell you where to go. Also, you can create a wrokout for a ride. So if you do the Battenkill training ride for example, yoou can then create a training ride to mimic it, eg total watts, speed, ft climbed......also high Watts #'s for any tim einterval, eg 2 mins, 5 mins, 20 mins, etc.

Re: Sunday Ride
so if you get dropped on the big climb and the effort took 400watts for 5 mins and you weigh 75kg........well either you have to find a training hill and build to sustain maybe 440w for 5 mins.....or drop a few kg! pretty cool
Re: Sunday Ride
Well, hopefully its nice this weekend and I can try again. Thought maybe I would bring my biking shoes this time...

Re: Sunday Ride
I think I have my computer set up to include zeros on the avg wattage so that would bring it down. I didn't look at everything really close, just the profile and a couple of the overall numbers. I don't typically stress too much about any of the data and only pick out nuggets here and there. For example, on a Wednesday ride I'll pay a lot more attention to the sustained effort for the duration of Oak hill than I do the average of the whole ride.
Bruce, I have no idea and I have no plans to buy a new computer so I guess it doesn't matter
My PT hub is the SL wireless model and it's from a couple years ago. No idea if that means it's compatible.
