Saturday 5/1 6:30 AM ride from Stow: Sterling course

Post by jraguin »

Russ and I have been working through a plan to ride from Stow to the Sterling course. The goal of the ride is to discuss the MRC Cat 5 35+ strategy as a team on the ride. We are hoping that the other Cat 5 35+ Doran Abel, Jeremy Cratty, Todd Prekaski, and Scott Sweeney can join us. Others are welcome but may get bored of us over-analyzing the race strategy.

The plan is to meet at 7:00 AM at Stow. The ride will be about 42 miles with some decent climbs. 1 lap of the Sterling course will be part of the ride and is included in the 42 miles. I will be backing off any fast pace. If some guys want to hammer their way there, they can peel off, either on the way back, or we can regroup at the top of the hills.

In, but I need to back by 10:30 the latest; so I don't have much time to hang around.

Todd P. can you join?

Guys....I now need to be home by 9:30 sharp. Would anyone be interested in rolling out at 6:30 instead of 7? If not, no problem, I can do my own thing.

Sorry for the change, this just came up.

6:30 works for me, but I know some people are coming in from Boston or thereabouts... Also, i'm hoping to do 2 laps around the course, are you ok with doing one then heading home on your own, Scott?

I think so....can't I just take 62 out of Sterling Ctr back to Stow?

I am fine with 6:30 AM. So let's confirm that. Sounds like Scott, Russ, and I are in. Jeremy can't make it. Anyone else?

I will probably go back with you Scott, unless you are hammering and in that case I stay with Russ or go back slower solo.

You could, but that is longer, I think, going through Berlin then Hudson. This past Saturday, we took 62 into Clinton then picked up Water St. which led to Wattaquadock (we did have to sneak through a detour by way of a footpath over a bridge under construction) which gets you on 117 in Bolton.

Just saw this - great idea and I would love to do it - but I have my son's b-ball tourney early tomorrow (Sat) and then I need to save some energy for Blue Hills RR on Sun. I will feel your pain on the steep coming out of Sterling center - is it Rowley Hill or something like that? I may try to get out there mid-week so I can be reminded.

Rusto - are you healthy? I am still fighting a bit.

Thanks for asking, I'm finally healthy, but not on my bike all week: a flurry of short-notice gigs has had me either out shooting or chained to my computer...

Just to be clear: despite what it says in the title of this thread, the departure time tomorrow is 6:30. See you in the morning, looks to be a spectacular day!

Changed it to 6:30 AM to match what is the actual time.

Nice ride today, guys! Thanks to Scott & Carl for their wisdom.

Scott, sorry those tracks dinged your rim... nothing a few whacks of the sledge hammer against an anvil wouldn't fix.
