If it's not raining I might show up for a good Shellacking... since heading all the way to Wompy to get rained out is not a good option.

Where and what time will you meet for this ride. The only other time I've done this ride I rode over from Watertown with a friend and met a group waiting on Hunting Rd just off Highland Ave. Looking at the BRC site they say the ride leaves Nahanthon Park at 6 pm sharp.

Ride leaves at 6pm and everyone meets on Hunting Rd past Kendrick st where Hunting turns into Greendale Ave. Everyone used to meet down in Nahantan park, and then ride up the hill over 128, but now they all meet on Hunting/Greendale.

can't go tonight, blown out from running/weights - but keep me posted on future TW rides - I would like to try it once

can you tell me distance, approx route, and approx ave speed? so when I get dropped, I will know how far home I have to go with tail between legs

Doran,

The TSS -- training stress score -- of the ride was in the 135 range, which is high. Compares to 96 for last Stow ride (moderate between hills), 95 for Wells A race and 201 for hard 3.5 hr ride from Stow to top of Wa Wa.

The first 22 minutes of the ride was spent right around functional threshold ~305w, much harder than says Wells A where the hardest 20 mins I have in four races thsi year is 270w. Then you hit the climb, which isn't bad but it is taken at high speed and the race splits up.

Doran, for older guys llike us it is pretty criical to get a good warmup -- get yourself into zone 4 for a few minutes before this ride and then at least 1 min at VO2Max -- because this race/rid goes right from the gun. The other ky to the ride is to absolutely under no circumstances should you take a pull in that first 20 mins....but also don't hang at the back -- because of the contantly rolling hills you'll be forced to speed up and lsow down alot. Always someone to ride with after the hill.

Can't agree more with the warmup comment. I jumped straight out of the car and into the ride tonight. With the cold, wet conditions my legs didn't feel any good until the end of the ride. 2 other observations:

1. Don't take a pull on the front when you don't know the route. Flew past a left turn and had to chase back on.

2. Try and remember where the finish is cause it's further up the road than you think finish.

Is there a map of the route they take? I'd like to start doing this ride as I work right down the street but going by the numbers Bruce is talking about there's no way in hell I'd be able to hang for the full ride.
