Memorial wkd
Memorial wkd
I'm looking to get two days of good climbing in during the long weekend. Maybe a 3+ hour with a few laps around the Purgatory course one day and a hill repeat workout at Wawa. Probably a Saturday and Monday schedule.
Anyone in for either or both?

Perfect. I'm in for Sat. assuming it's early enough.

In Saturday, depending on time.

Re: Memorial wkd
Any thoughts on roll time Saturday a.m.? I'd like to get a race-type effort in on this ride. Is the group OK with 'hammer time?' Len, I might also be in on Monday for WaWa.

Once again, I'll be in Saratoga Springs for Mem Day Wknd. Bringing bike. Looking for hills.

I'm definitely not in y-all's class as a (old and mediocre) 5-er, but interested probably for one day. If I get "hammered" off the back, you can just keep going - or take a few turns dragging me back for practice - and then you take off.
Re: Memorial wkd
Chris, was your route last week to Purg worth repeating?
If so, how does 8am from Franklin sound? I plan to do at least 2 laps of the course. Per PJ's comments, this will be a swift pace but we can regroup at specific points on the route. On the course, I'd like to do 1 lap with regroups and discussions about strategy and race-pace on the other lap.

Thinking of joining you guys for this. I'm not racing Purgatory - I guess I just like getting smacked around.
Will there be a contingent leaving from Westborough?

Re: Memorial wkd
Absolutely worth repeating. However I'll route us a different way that gets us on course quickly and avoids whitinsville center (we modified my route last time). Maybe if we rendezvous with a Westboro contingent we can do it on the race course. I'll play with routes later.

Chris, will this route still go by the Burger King in Northbridge? If so, approximately what time will you roll through there? That's a more convenient mtg. spot for me. Otherwise I can meet up at Roche Bros. in Westboro.

Re: Memorial wkd
OK, a couple options -- but they all revolve around whether or not Len is planning to drive to my house and ride from there....
A good rendezvous point might be the convenience store in Manchaug at the 4 way stop sign.
I can do a loop that makes a B line to Manchaug, but with 2 laps on the course plus there and back its like 65 miles and I don't want to do that solo. So I'll wait to hear from Len, but if he's NOT planning on a Franklin start I will likely drive somewhere close to the course and park there to maximize course time (could probably do 4 laps for the full race simulation). If that's the case I'll probably just park in the lot at Purgatory Chasm and warm up to the top of Lackey.
So in summary:
If riding with Len from Franklin -- rendezvous in Manchaug at 9:00
If no Len from Franklin -- I'll drive to Purgatory Chasm and rendezvous at the top of Lackey at 8:30
So PJ, no BK but stay tuned on the rendezvous point.....

Re: Memorial wkd
@Chris: I'm driving...so it might as well be to your house.
Re: Memorial wkd
I hadn't thought about 4 laps of the course but it sounds good to me. I'd like to add 10 miles on the front and back of the ride. Chris can we drive to a spot 10 miles or so from Lackey and get a warm up in?
Re: Memorial wkd
I'll plan to arrive at at the Purgatory Chasm visitor's center (the first parking lot, going up Purgatory Rd it will be on the right side) at 8am. From there we can unload and head over to the top of Lackey Rd. It's 5 miles, but it's a lot of up so you'll be warm
Rendezvous at the top of Lackey Road at 8:30am (in front of the driveway of that country club / restaurant thing, at the intersection of Lackey and Putnam Hill Roads).
I'll probably only do 3 full laps then head back to the car, I'd like to be home before noon.
PJ, Doug, Stefan, Doran -- Roll Call?

Re: Memorial wkd
PJ, where will you be leaving from? I can either go straight to Purg or meet you somewhere and get a few more miles in before the course laps. I'm looking for 50-60 miles tomorrow.

Len, I'll be riding from my house at 8 a.m. to meet at the country club drivway Chris is talking about. I'll be there at 8:30. If I don't see the group I'll ride the course backwards.

I'm going to ride from my house out towards Purgatory. I'll try to meet up with you guys on the road, but don't wait around for me.
Re: Memorial wkd
Hi, I'm going to join and hang on as long as I can. If anyone is leaving from Westborough, I'll go from there, otherwise I'll meet at the Visitor Center at 8. I might get there early and warm-up some more.

If anyone rides the course backwards just remember to ride the "new" course....

If you want to ride from Westborough, we can meet in the Roche Bros. parking lot (behind the store) at 7

I'm going to ride from home, turn one lap, then return.
