Sun 9/25 Long Recovery Ride
Sun 9/25 Long Recovery Ride
Putting it up early to try and get some interest...
I am planning on doing a 3 hr ride on Sunday. Conversational & recovery pace as I will have done a hard XC running race on Saturday. Best guess on speed is 17 mph. I haven't figured out the start time, so that will be based on if others will join me. Given the length, I will probably just start from my house (Acton) and meet others on the road or at one of the more traditional locations.

I'll join in if we can start by 7. How about meet at Stow plaza?
Re: Sun 9/25 Long Recovery Ride
That sounds good actually. So let's meet at 7 AM at Stow. Since we are starting early enough, I will be riding to Stow and want to end up in Sudbury Center by say 9:45 AM since my son is playing a football game there. So we can figure out a course that does that... maybe ride towards Hudson, Marlborough, Southborough, even Hopkinton, then back around to Sudbury. Don't know about you Jeremy, but I would like to try some different roads for a change especially on an easy long ride...
Re: Sun 9/25 Long Recovery Ride
Oh now you come out of the wood work, when I haven't ridden for 2 weeks and you just did a century.
Re: Sun 9/25 Long Recovery Ride
OK, here is a suggested route.

I am no expert on the roads I picked... just tried to choose roads that we won't get lost and yet are not really major roads. It is 52 miles from Stow back to Stow. I am going to peel off and go to Sudbury center late in the ride (about mile 47). If one of you can download this into your GPS, that will help. I will try it but have never done it.
I am serious about easy pace. I will have done a hard mudfest running race on Saturday, so there will be no big-ringing it here. I have a friend coming who is not a member of the club, so it will at least be the 4 of us. Hopefully more can come.
Come on Alan... the Mayors Cup race isn't until later in the day!

You MAY see me there for at least the first half. Don't wait, though. I'll try to post some time Saturday with a final decision...
Re: Sun 9/25 Long Recovery Ride
I don't have a gps except my phone.
Re: Sun 9/25 Long Recovery Ride
I loaded it into my Garmin and I will print out the turns, just in case.

slight mod to your ride that finds some more lightly traveled roads.

John: Which route are you doing? Your's or Carl's? I'm going to ride it backwards until I run into you, then join you for a while...
Re: Sun 9/25 Long Recovery Ride
We'll do Carl's. Call me on my cell phone if you need to.

I'll ride the course backwards meet near the winery as well.
Re: Sun 9/25 Long Recovery Ride
Nice ride guys (& gal)! Look forward to riding with group again as a lot of people asked me to organize more.
One reminder to everyone, both MRC riders and the guys who jumped in by seeing the post about the ride: When someone says "Car back, single up!" that MEANS single file, no exceptions! It also means getting as far as you can on the right hand side of the road. I think we were far too cavalier this most of the ride. At times riders would not single up, and at times we would go single file, but we were not riding tightly on the right so we were still blocking the driving lane. This left a few cars frustrated as they could not get by us. Let's just remember this next time so we can all have a more enjoyable ride and let drivers have a more enjoyable drive! Thanks.
