Weather looks like all or nothing, so post up now and then you'll have motivation...

Wawersik protocol.

I'll be rolling from Berlin PnR at 5:15pm.

It seems that people have adapted quite well to all the throat punching that has been going on. Wear a cup.

I'm in DC until Friday afternoon, I just wanted to make sure you didn't think I was skipping out on training. I will try and join the ride Sat morning.

In case anyone thought that was a hard ride or something, just know that we clocked the top 7 fastest Strava times up Liberty Square Hill, and that was in a paceline! Sorry Toby, your KOM is dead. RIP.

Strava already emailed me the glum news. But I knew that KOM's days were numbered as it is part of Wednesday's route.

That's make me feel a tad better about dropping off the back on Oak Hill.

Coupla notes:

- That was the largest group we've had on a Wed PM ride in a while - and one of the most energetic - I'm very glad this ride has been revived, kudos to Chris P! That said, we have to do better when it comes to responding to the traffic (I'm looking at you Robd2): in a large group like we had last night, when a call goes out of "car back", form a TIGHT double pace line (TWO WIDE). At times, group captains may instead call out "SINGLE UP" - they know the roads and the likelyhood that even a double paceline will be a hinderance to vehicles passing. Cyclists on the inside should quickly and safely make room for the folks riding close to the middle of the lane.

I know it's a pain in the ass to be "good citizens" and have to respond to traffic EVEN WHEN there seems TO US to be plenty of room/opportunity to pass - especially when we're in the groove as a group and rolling up a Strava segment like nobody's business.

But we just don't know who we're dealing with each time somebody comes upon us. We don't know if the next driver is the one who's "had it up to here" with cyclists "hogging the road", etc. and chooses that day to be the one where he/she blows a gasket and does something everyone will regret. By assuming the worst and by getting over quickly, we keep everyone we care about safe.

- I was grateful for the "A" group waiting for the "B's" at the usual locations but it shouldn't be necessary. Once all the "A's" get to the wait spot, they can go on - that's the whole idea. I'll do a better job of announcing B group status when we assemble at Stow Plaza and have B riders identify themselves.
