FMR 6/22
Re: FMR 6/22
I am planning on being there. I want to doing a 15-30 sec sprint every 5 minutes as I need some sprint work. So I will be doing that during the ride. I will be taking the hills easy except when my sprint comes.

Calling all Presta pumps to the FMR: Can as many of you bring a pump as possible? I am having issues with my rear Zipp. The valve extender just doesn't work well with my pump. I read somewhere that this is an issue with some pumps and how they connect to the value extender. I was able to pump it up with someone else's pump at Sunapee, so I know it can work. I want a few pumps to try to pump it up with, or else it may be a very short FMR for me.

It's not your pump...
Whoever said nothing is impossible never tried slamming a revolving door.

In, but I'm going to try riding over from the far side of Shrewsbury, so don't wait for me. (Not that you would wait anyway). I'll chase you guys down on route if I can't make it to the start in time.

John, I'll bring my pump which has worked fine with my Zipps and extenders (until the piece o shite broke and they won't replace it)

John,
Posted up a response to your gear and training thread.
The issue is likely.to be that the valve core is sticky so you need to get enough air pressure in the tire to force the valve to seal which will be tricky without haveing plumbers tape on the threads of the extender. Poking the valve with a thin stick and pumping really hard and fast with my blackburn pump worked eventually but i had tape on the threads.
Ps. I should be there tomorrow. If nobody is up for riding hard on the hills why don't we stick together on them and paceline in between. See how smooth and fast we can ride the course?
