Sat 3/2 9 AM ride from the Berlin PNR: 3+ hours

Post by jraguin »

Jeremy and I are planning a 3+ hour ride from Stow on Saturday. We can meet others at Stow at 12 noon. Jeremy wants to go 4 hours, I want to go 3 hours. Saturday is the warmer day (currently forecast says low 40s at that time of day). Winter endurance pace. I will have had 3 workouts this week, so if people want to go harder, they will have to wait for me at the top of the hills.

If people want us to meet at the Berlin PnR to have less of a drive, Jeremy and I could ride down there and meet you closer to 12:30 PM.
---

EDIT: OK, update for all and for the stalkers:
The time and place are now moved to 9 AM at the Berlin Park & Ride on Route 62 for 3+ hours. The move is to better accommodate the weather since there may be some rain showers moving in during the afternoon. Note that I changed the title of the post too.

I know that Doug, Stefan, Chris P, Jeremy, PJ, and I are in for the updated time & place.

Be forewarned that I am pushing for winter endurance pace. Jeremy thinks that isn't going to happen as too much testosterone in the group, including me. I hope not as I think my legs will be a bit toasty tomorrow and that is not from being warm. We are still going to regroup after any hill regardless.

John did you have any thoughts on the route? My schedule is totally up in the air as usual these days but was thinking about trying to catch you guys out on the road. I don’t need anything too specific.

Thanks again,
Rob

Sounds good on heading east (unless someone wants to map a south route for a change). Assuming we head east, we will head through Hudson, Marlborough, Sudbury, Lincoln, Waltham, Lexington, and then back out through Concord, Carlisle, Acton, and then down to Berlin again. I will work on a possible route tonight.

Here is my proposed route.
[ridewithgps]http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2187971[/ridewithgps]

If someone else wants to plan a different one because they have / prefer a different one, I am happy to relinquish the duties of route planner. I tried to factor in that we are at least 7 of us and wanting to go on some slightly different roads than normal (for me). Note that I did not choose to take us up Oak Hill, but instead went through flatter ground / Cisco area. So total elevation is fairly flat. I assumed about 18.5 mph.

Not to be a pain, but if we do something this flat, I'd like to bump up the pace a little. Can we work in some paceline stuff at a higher tempo? I need longer and harder if possible. Unless this is the group consensus and then I'll just shut up...

Either bump up the pace or make the climbs no-drop and the ones who want to push harder would wait at the top... Or we could go with A and B groups depending on who shows up and what they want to do.

FYI,

I rode west today and the melt wasn't bad. Lots of sand from North Row and beyond. Almost Battenkillish. Have fun.
