Wed 6/12 - 5:30PM Stow Plaza
Wed 6/12 - 5:30PM Stow Plaza
The regular routine:
Standard loop taking in Oak Hill, Prospect/Fruitlands, & Bare Hill. Hard pace on the climbs, regroup at the tops. Town line sprints should be contested.
This is a no-drop ride, which means either A.) if you get dropped, we'll wait for you or B.) a B group will form.
Clip-in from Stow Plaza at 5:30. If you pull into the parking lot at 5:28, still needing to get dressed and pump your tires, there's a strong chance you will be time trialing to catch the group.
See you there.

In, from Stow Plaza, ready to be B group "leader".
I put that in quotes because I've not been near a bike in over a week, so it might be better to think of me as B-group "sweeper."

In from Berlin P&R... The last couple times we got to the meeting spot with a good amount of time to spare... Suggest pushing that departure time to 5:05 or 5:10? Any thoughts? - Kevin

In from Berlin. I'll join from my usual rendez-vous point, rte 62 & Sawyer.
Frenchie, Husband, Dad, Cyclist. Bonne a tout faire.

Down graded to a "possible" and from unknown location. Just called into a 4pm meeting.... le sigh
Re: Wed 6/12 - 5:30PM Stow Plaza
Regarding departure time from PnR. We don't have to average 22MPH on the way to the meeting place. We can try 5:05. Better than getting eaten by mosquitoes waiting for the Stowe bunch.

Yes, I don't know what hurt more the 22mph or the thousand mosquito bites! I am bringing bug spray, I don't trust you guys... LOL.cbusick wrote:Regarding departure time from PnR. Kevin - we waited for you at the top of Oak Hill, and Russ even headed back to find you, but no luck. Hope you made it back OK.

Re: Wed 6/12 - 5:30PM Stow Plaza
We were getting back towards Berlin and stopped at an intersection to cross on the other side. We were good this time (!), unclipped, waiting on the right side of the road patiently for a couple cars coming up and down that road to pass us. Then this blue car makes the stop next to us and engages a left turn across the main road against incoming traffic... that SUV comes down the main road and had no way to stop, BOOM. Airbags on for the blue car, smoke inside the cabin, driver and passenger get out unharmed but wondering what the heck just happened. The other driver comes out "Are you okay? What were you thinking?" LOL. We made sure everyone was okay and we left the car drivers who saw the accident and stopped take over and got on our way.
I was thinking about it last night before going to bed: we were pretty lucky on that one. If the SUV had came down the road faster, it would have had possibly hit that car hard enough to push it towards us since we were standing right next to it. And neither the 3 of us pulled a phone to take a pic!

Ugh, sorry I lost you guys last night. I made a bad decision at the top of Oak Hill, waited for a couple of minutes and went down.. figured at the pace everyone was going I was lost. Then when I got to the bottom of that hill i knew I went the wrong way. Google mapped my way back to the car. I was just out of eye shot of Russ, lost visual on the last 1/4 mile, so just missed him on the turn.. Last time I stuck the turn by turn in my pocket, should have done that again. Oh well. Next time.
I should grab a few guys numbers, in case that happens. I'll do that at the next ride...

Yep, distro of the ride leader's number would be a good thing to do at the start of a ride. My bad for waiting so long to go back to look for you.

Sorry we lost you - I hate that it happened on a ride expressly labelled "no drop."kevpoult wrote:Ugh, sorry I lost you guys last night. Next time, as we approach places where things tend to string out, we should do a better job of making sure everyone knows how to get to the regroup point.
