Friday 7/5 early ride

Post by ahamilton »

Testing the waters for an early morning ride tomorrow. Earlier the better, since it will be another blazer tomorrow. Couldn't ride today so looking to go long and hilly tomorrow. Possible options:

- start at Berlin Park n Ride head west, summit Wachusett
- start at Atkinson Pool in Sudbury, loop around the reservoir
- (your suggestion here)

Probably want to get on the road in the 6:00 AM range, but willing to move either way.

I have the day off, but my wife doesn't...so I need to be home by 9:00. I'm planning for close to 3 hours of reasonable intensity, but nothing over the top. Berlin P&R at 6AM sounds good.

Jacob, nice to see you out there today. Especially 'cause you gave Doug some company after Michael and I bailed on the summit. I was on a bad day, and it was so humid that I knew the summit would be a bad idea. I was feeling so wacked out that I actually had trouble drinking enough fluids. I only managed to get a single bottle in me in 2.5 hours. At one point I had a semi-delirious sensation of being way too big for my bike; like I was riding a kids bike.

It wasn't any better in the woods this morning: 5 minutes into my MTB ride with Gary David, the terry patches on my gloves were soaked from the inside and useless for wiping the sweat off my face.

@Jacob: I never felt that bad; just not quite right, but I'm fully recovered now!

@Russ: Yeah, I was sweating just pumping up my tires this morning. Ready for the humidity to drop, but I guess we have a few more days left.
