Berkshire Boondoggle 2014, Tuesday 5/13 8am

Post by pace21 »

I've been chatting about this one recently. Next Tuesday we'll take it to western MA for some sweet riding and lots of HILLS. We can carpool and meet at the parking lot of Berkshire East ski area for an 8am clip in. Here's a link to the Strava route from last year, note that we bailed on the 20 minute climb of E Hawley Rd (Hilltowns!) towards the end, otherwise it would have been 90 miles and 10,000ft. We'll see if we have the legs for that one this year...

A great day on the bike.

Folks asked about gearing last night. You'll want a 39/27 or lower. Kingsley Hill Road is the steepest half mile in the USA.

In. One of the best rides of 2013. Glad Chris planned this again

In.

I'd like to carpool if possible as I may not be able to depress a an accelerator or brake pedal afterwards.

I'm in. I'll meet you there (driving up from Lenox). Chris - counting out a loaner cassette, though. Lowest I've got right now would be 39/25. If you bring that morning I can put it on fairly quick. Unless we see each other before then.

No I didn't Mike. Unfortunately I won't be there tomorrow either. Email me.

The whole route is paved, any wheels will work. Gear choice will be more important than wheel choice :)

Also - pending how you handle on steep descents, it may not be wise to use something you aren't used to. Not sure I would make it the wheels' first day out :?

Good because I have a 27 on the race wheels. 70% in for the ride just need to make sure I don't have any school work that I have to be there for.

You mean, except for "school" part of your school work? ;)

LOL, I'll be stoked if you join us. I'll just stick my fingers in my ears and go "la la la la la la".
