End of "2015 winter" angry ride -- !!!! 9:30 AM start time
End of "2015 winter" angry ride -- !!!! 9:30 AM start time
Marblehead canceled
Rhodekill canceled
Wells delayed
Planning a good hard ride for Sunday morning from my house down into RI. Will use many of the Rhodekill roads. Some hills and 70ish miles, race prep pace.
Start time negotiable, thinking 8am

Re: End of "2015 winter" angry ride
Part of me wants to start at 8 AM to get the ride in and get home to family, and part of me says it will be a bit warmer at 9 AM. Current forecast is 29 at 8 AM and 31 at 9 AM so I guess that doesn't make much of a difference. In, either way.

Re: End of "2015 winter" angry ride
I'd be in for an 8AM start time. Depending on how many people show up would it make sense if needed to let an A and B group form during the ride?
Re: End of "2015 winter" angry ride
Can you post a route?

In. Excited.

We did something like this last year and everyone got completely parched because there was no place to re-fill until mile 90.
Re: End of "2015 winter" angry ride
Know how I know that won't happen again? This is only 70 miles. Oh and we'll be going fast so 2 bottles should suffice, or throw a 3rd in your pocket. No snack stops on this one, race pace.scottc wrote:We did something like this last year and everyone got completely parched because there was no place to re-fill until mile 90.
Re: End of "2015 winter" angry ride
I agree with Jeremy. No stopping.

More details on the "angry ride" / Franklinkill2015 / Battenkill race prep hammerfest:
8am Sunday morning, my house.
Mr. Garmin Edge will be the B group ride leader.
No planned stopping.
Here's the route. I kept it closer to home than Rhodekill so as to hit some of the *regular* Franklinkill favorites (Big Apple climb, Tower Hill Rd, Wilbur Wall, Cullen Hill, Mann Hill, etc.:

Re: End of "2015 winter" angry ride
I would like to join this ride as well. Can you send me that address?
Re: End of "2015 winter" angry ride
So far I have for sure:
Chris
John
John
Jeremy
PJ
Len
No lurking please as we may have to tweak based on overnight conditions and I'll probably use email for that. So far the roads are just wet but we'll see. I'm debating pushing back to 9am if it drops well below freezing tonight.

Re: End of "2015 winter" angry ride
I'm not going to make it, I'll be too pushed for time.

Very likely
Thanks

Re: End of "2015 winter" angry ride
Well, so far there's no accumulation on the roads so that's good. If it doesn't accumulate and it stops soon there's a chance that the dry air may evaporate the roads before it freezes. Maybe. For the sake of a little warmth and potentially safer roads let's plan to push out the start time a little bit. Let's plan on a 9:30am roll out, but we'll take stock of where we're at when everyone gets here. I'll have donuts in case we need to wait for a spell.
As a friendly reminder, this is a race simulation / hammerfest, with no expectations of stopping or regrouping. Please have the course loaded or know the roads where we'll be headed.
See you in the AM on (hopefully) dry(ish) roads.
