2015 Bethel CDR Gold Race - March 22

Post by Jacob »

This is a crit with a very short lap and a small climb to the finish line. I got some new wheels and I mostly remember how to steer, so that's good. A lot of stuff happened in the race, but the finish was a bunch sprint with me somewhere in the middle. Maybe I can go uphill fast and get top 25%. Maybe. Whoops, two guys in front of me crash into each other and go down. I go over them and get completely inverted over the handlebars. I land on my forehead and right shoulder and the bike lands somewhere further on up the hill. I wish I had it on video. Fortunately, both of my new wheels are unharmed. Nothing broken, but my helmet is crushed in pretty well in the front. Almost definitely not a concussion, but my shoulder is injured. It's mostly better now.

Christ Jacob, what a dreadful way to start the season. Glad you physically fine and hope you're in the next sprint finish with much better wheels to follow.

OMG this is the worst report ever. Substance, that is. Turn it around at ninigret!

Yikes! Good to see you are doing better.... Good Luck at the next one!

Maybe Cratty can get you in on the Rudy order that just closed?

Thanks, but when a helmet saves your life, you go right out and buy the EXACT SAME HELMET.

Holy smokes Jacob - this sounds unfortunate. Glad to hear you're mostly ok.

I have an extra helmet you can borrow in the interim.

Very glad to hear that it was only the helmet that got the worst of it. Hopefully smooth sailing from here.

Just catching up with this now. That's why I never asked you about it at Ninigret. Glad you are OK and were racing well.

Were you at the bottom of that pile or were you the other sorry mess lying on his own further off to the left?

Neither, I think. My guess is that I'm hiding somewhere behind the pile.
