I decided to do the 2/3/4 race over the elite race this year for two main reasons: the two 2nd place finishes this year left me hungry for the top step and it had an earlier start time which allowed me to go home earlier and study for my exam the next day

. I staged on the front, had a decent start and was 4th or 5th wheel at the holeshot. The first lap felt slow but I knew going off the front that early wasn’t smart, so I sat in. After the first time through the finish line power section, Anthony put in a dig and I was the only one to follow. Leading up to the hard-packed sand pit, I passed him. For the next lap and a half I did most of the work with Anthony on my wheel. When he eventually did pull through after I swung wide forcing him to the front through the finish line power section, he took what seemed like a soft pedal pull, so I knew he was riding defensively. With that in mind, I started attacking him whenever I could with around 2 laps to go. I was surprised to see that he held on for most of them, but I got some separation leading into the sand, which I capitalized on going through the barriers, with a quick remount and clip in. I had a 10-15 second gap with a lap and a half to go that I held off to the finish for the win! It was awesome to see a ton of MRCers racing and spectating and it was great to pull off a win in such a great atmosphere.
