Pack-WaWa, 7/29

Post by djming »

Since we are all devastated by the cancelling of Hilltowns (especially Jeremy), Bernard and I have hatched a worthy replacement plan.
Route and exact details in the works, but here's the idea:

Saturday, 7/29 with rain date 7/30
Start time (early, exact TBD)
Start and finish at Wachusett Brewery (we can call it the Underground Fondo, although all suggestions welcome!)
Out to and climb of Pack Monadnock with a return via a WaWa ascent.

Finish and Brew Yard Festivities to commence (cut and paste from the full press release):
The new Wachusett Brewing Company Brew Yard is taking their brewery to the next level.
Equipped with a one of a kind Airstream bar and enormous copper fire kettle, the Brew Yard experience will be unique in the region. The Brew Yard will be open every Saturday from 11am to 10pm and Sunday’s from 12pm to 6pm. It is currently scheduled to run through September.

I can't comment on if this will count for race team points :D
Actually, I have to credit PJ with the initial idea of a group ride from the Brew Yard

There may or may not be a dirt road or two.... Route will be created in the next week or so.

Sounds like an awesome idea. I'm hoping for the rain date so I can actually make it

It won't be the "dirty pack ride" you wanted but a few dirt roads... :)

But have you been stripped to the waist while eating a block of cheese the size of a car battery?

For the moment you've all been waiting for!!!!!

THE ROUTE!
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/23304005

The plan!
Saturday 7/29 (rain date 7/30)
7:30am roll out
Parking is across the street from the brewery in the dirt field
Fueling stops will be as required. Water at the top of Pack and at the Wawa ranger station.
Bring cash, it's $4 per rider at Pack and post ride beers/foods are not sponsored
There will be dirt roads, not a lot but just a heads up. The one dirt section near Wachusett I did on 23's this past weekend and was fine. The others I'm not sure of their condition.

Please post up! Inviting others is encouraged!

Hmmm... that makes me wonder about tire selection.

Really want to do Pack again, but I am not even as fit as "summer of Jeremy" Jeremy, so if I can make it to the ride I will only be doing the northern Pack loop. I will be fully prepared to be dropped early and make my own way back the the brewery, (ending a ride at a brewery - what an incentive!) so don't worry about having me slow you down.
