zwift vFMR Richmond 2/9/18 6:15 AM

Post by cbusick »

It's Richmond this week, and yeah it's not the best course, but it's actually really good for the vFMR.

I'm going to change it up a little this time and start the final lap race from 4 miles out, as we go under the train tracks right after we make the left onto Dock Street. I think that's far enough from the top of Governor Street Hill that we can get things back together.

I tried to move the time up to 6AM, but the other time slots were already taken.

Join the Minuteman Road Club for their Friday morning ride. Expected ride time around 1 hour.
Steady group pace on the flats, starting at 2.5 w/kg on the flats and increasing as the ride goes on.
On the KOMs we raise the pace, initially to 3.6 w/kg but also increasing each lap.

Each time up the KOM, the sweeper (Red Beacon) will act as a back marker, riding a steady pace, then dropping back to the announced base pace at the top. Other riders are welcome to go as hard as they want on the KOM, just soft pedal after the top until the sweeper rejoins the group.

On the last lap we’ll race to the finish. Where we start racing from varies depending on the course.
The only rule we insist on is that you make sure you are behind the leader when the race starts.
Once the leader says “GO” the race is on!

Watopia: Race starts at Start/Finish banner going into last lap. Yes, we race the full last lap
London: Race starts at the Box Hill KOM start on last lap
Richmond: Race starts when you go under the train tracks on Dock Street on the last lap. (about 1.7 miles into the last lap)

The course:

Watopia: 4 Forward Laps of the Watopia Hilly Course. 22.8 miles
London: 2 Laps London Loop 18.4 miles
Richmond: 4 Laps of Richmond Hilly 22.8 miles

Route: Richmond Hilly Roads

I will do the old "I am a definite maybe". Just kidding. In. Tired, so I may just ride and not attack the end. We will see how I feel.

In, although I will need to jump off around 7. Maybe I can push it to 7:10.

I'll reluctantly ride with you until 7.

Is there a way to lock down next Friday @ 6am or are you forever locked out of that time slot?

It's us against EVR Asia. We could just give up on the vFMR and start racing with the Koreans

Ok. I was thinking there could be concurrent events. If not, 6:15 is not so bad.

It depends on the events and a whole lot of discretion on the part of the guy who manages them.

I created a strava segment for today's finish:

Looks like it is still populating since I'm the only one on there for today from MRC.

Anyway, that was fun, set my 2018 10 Minute PR chasing down Mark and the Pirate

I thought for sure Roy had it, but Rees closed down a 5 second gap on Governor's Hill climb to take the win.

I may have mis-timed that one a little. Nice catch Rees.

I worked a little with Silvio to catch you. Plus your avatar decided to swerve out of the way as I started my sprint, I think that helped me open a gap.
