Lets be careful out there...
This past weekend two MRC'rs were struck by cars.
My brother Tim and I had a car turn in front of us while riding in Maine this weekend. I was able to avoid but Tim struck the passenger side of the SUV. We were all at very low speed and Tim received only a scratch from his handlebar but did hit the deck. The NH tourist was subjected to a frustrating 1/2 hour while the police filed a report.
Trey Cassidy, on one of his first rides in his new hometown of Grosse Point, MI, was apparently forced off the road while riding with two other cyclists on a park loop road that was one way and had a large bike lane. Trey was banged up but not hospitalized. I believe his bike is ok. The driver left the scene and the riders were unable to get the license plate. Welcome to Michigan!
Anyone for a mountain bike ride?

Sorry to hear about the incidents. Glad that Tim come out unscathed.
Mtn biking? Well, that can get pretty messy too, see posts about Great Glen.

Re: Scrapes and bumps....
YES!!!.... MTB is a lot safer than road riding....You have total control....MTB is only dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. The trees and rocks will never jump out in front of you. You actually have to aim your bike towards them (some riders have a knack for this - names being withheld)...
