Fellow MRCers,
Over last year, and especially in the spring, there was a lot of talk about people making it up to the track in Londonderry, NH. Last year was my first year doing it and i will be back again this year for a full season of weekly races. This post is a plea for anyone who is interested in coming up and racing. Although track at many times seems like an individual sport, when you are racing against clubs that have 3 to 5 guys in your event it very much becomes a time when some "friendlies" come in handy. So, if anyone wants to check the track out, the website is http://nevelodrome.com Since it is the off-season and the website is blogged based, there is not all that much critical info up but by searching the archives you can get a sense of what goes on.
If you have any questions feel free to message me. Some of the guys in the club have been up there before as well and can also chime in. What would be great is to actually get people up there to try it out. If there was enough interest i bet i could get the director to rent us the track on a off night so that we could have the place to ourselves and get some good experience. we would have to have enough people interested to share the cost of course, but we will cross that bridge when we get there.
Hope everyone is having a good winter

Can you move the track closer to Boston?

SURE CAN!!!!!
...........and while i am at it would you like me to move all the other races you would want to do to your driveway. And if you act now.....I'll make it 68 degrees with a slight tail wind every time you ride!
I know the track is a up there and not in our backyard. But frankly, how many of the races that we do aren't at least an hour drive from our house. And at the track you do at least three races a night, so the drive time to race ratio becomes a fraction of what you would allocate for a normal race.

Do we need track bikes or can we show up with our Huffys?

I went to the velodrome website and it seems that some track bikes are available for rent. This sounds interesting...may have to hop in my corporate helicopter and get up there, picking up Chindogu along t he way.

rental is five dollars. and the bikes are well maintained as ron hinted to. A track bike can always be found cheaply on craigs list or e-bay if you get into it. I will post more when the season starts getting underway to let more people know what is going on up in the great north of NH.
And if Ron is going to get out there, you know it is a good time.

I said it last year and it didn't happen but I plan on making it up there for at least a few sessions on the track.
Maybe I can hitch a ride in the Goguen family bus...
Maybe one of you guys can update this thread when there is a definite start date to the season so we can get ourselves organized.

Sorry if I hit a sore spot Todd. Wasn't trying to deter you enthusiasm for the hitting the 'drome. Thing is, I would love to get into the racing there but the weekday races and distance do make it tough.
Rob and I made it up there a year or so ago and had a great time. We rented bikes that were well maintained and got two, 2-lap races in. This was before they had lights, so the racing ended early.
Good luck this year!

Lowry, no sore spot hit, just trying to keep the dream alive!
Cole, I will update this thread as the season starts and more solid plans and info come from the track.
