Sat afternoon ride (3/21)

Post by ahamilton »

Anyone interested in a warmer ride starting just after noon? Riding in the mid-forties sounds so much better than the mid-twenties, doesn't it? I am very flexible on time and location. Post a suggestion.

I've been sick all week (a great dry weather week, and I don't get on the bike once!) and will still be sick tomorrow, but need to get in some miles at as hard a pace as my weakened body will allow. Less than 30 days to Battenkill-Roubaix...

Alan -

Sorry to hear you've been ill. You're not the only one. I'm literally one of 2 people in our office right now and my wife and 2 girls are both sick also. I won't mention who isn't sick right now for fear of jinxing.

I'm up for a warm ride. I rode at work this week and it's much nicer without all the layers. I'm also flexible on location and a 12:30-1:00 start would work. I'd also be up for a flatter ride than normal. Your call...

Flatter sounds good, since the legs still feel pretty rubbery.

Both my kids have been sick all week but have recovered now which means I'm on party duty saturday pm so can't make this ride. I'll post up another thread for a cold morning option. Is anyone doing Wells on sunday?

Alan, I am in for an afternoon ride.
Also Neil and I are planning on riding Sunday around here if interested.

Rob and John -- you can still get a flu shot at CVS; even if you've been exposed it would shorten #days.

I'm definitely in for the "warmer" afternoon ride. I'm flexible on start time and location. I don't need to go hard, per se, but want some quality time in the saddle.

Alan -

Feel free to pick a location off that way since Bruce and Doug are on board. I'll drive over to meet everyone. I can meet anytime noon and beyond.

Any interest in putting the Saturday ride crew into Wells this weekend? I usually try to avoid the March carnage but could be swayed, especially for the B race. Ride down and back for a few hours total? If not, I may break out the MTB on Sunday.

Does the Stow shopping plaza on Rte 117 work for everyone? We can ride pretty flat stuff from there and it's easy to get to. 1:00 PM?

Rob, I was thinking about trying to do Wells tomorrow, but don't want to commit until after I try riding today. I'm still coughing and hacking like someonw who shouldn't even consider exercising.

1pm in Stow will work. I was hoping to escape all the coughing I've been hearing at home! See you then.

See you at 1. Alan -- did you have the flu or "just" a cold?

See you guys at 1:00.

"Just a cold" is still a major pain. Not much sleeping got done this week, and no exercise other than the ab workout from coughing. It sucks because prepping for Battenkill requires as many days of training as you can get in Feb/Mar/April.

Rob, I'll be behind you, as usual, so you won't even hear the coughing...

I'm in. Stow Shopping Center is about 1/2 mile east of Stow center, right?

East for sure, but maybe a bit more than 1/2 mile. You can't miss it on your left.

There's an above average chance that I may swing in even if it's just to say hi. I'm only doing an hour today so I probably won't tag on for the ride.
