Training Peaks vs. MotionBased vs. any others...

Post by ptmccue »

I recently received a Garmin Forerunner 305 as a gift from my father in law (i think he is sick and tired of watching me get dropped in cross races). I am using it exclusively for the bike - it has the cadence monitor as well. I have never used any of the GPS compatible web-based training sites out there. I have demoed MotionBased and TrainingPeaks so far and like both of them equally. Anyone out there use any of these gps sites or others for keeping track of training? I would appreciate any feedback.

Wax on, right hand. Wax off, left hand. Wax on, wax off. Breathe in through nose, out the mouth. Wax on, wax off. Don't forget to breathe, very important.

I use MotionBased, but not really to track training progress. I'm using the free account and I believe it lets you view the last 10 activities. I'm mostly into just viewing where I've gone, or downloading other's course files (CRS format) through their Trail Network so I can discover new routes. I also like to check out the elevation details of my rides.

I also have a demo over at training peaks, but that's a little more involved than I want to be with my training at this point. I just like to ride. I thought about trying out one of Training Peaks 12 week programs for enduro mountain biking, but then reality set in...

I'll be interested in hearing how others use their GPS's

(I just got my Garmin Edge 305 about 5 weeks ago.)
