Sat Stow Loop 2 Loops 6/6

Post by teamkimball »

Anybody up for a long ride on Saturday 2 Loops Stow? I will be starting from my house at 5:00 am if people want to go longer. I need to get in 4 1/2 hours.

Early Start: Bolton 5:00 am ( my house )

Stow Plaza Start: 6:00 am ( Leaving at 6:05 Sharp )
Loop #2 Leaving at 7:20am - I will plan on meeting in the plaza for a very quick stop between loops. People can join the group or do a water bottle exchange. I would like to keep this to only a couple minutes. Please note that if there is more than 1 group we will try to estimate when that group will arrive in Stow.

I will plan on riding with the 20 mph group. Is there anybody to lead an 18 mph or 17mph group? Post up if you are planning on leading another pace so others can plan on attending. It would be nice if we could get a solid list of riders for each group.

Route:

If you are interested in riding please post a reply with the pace you would like to ride at and how many loops you would like to do.

I'm in for the 18-ish group out of Stow Plaza, if one forms. Happy to lead them. Otherwise, I'll hang on for dear life as long as I can with you and the speedsters.

I'm in for second loop if there is a slower group, no way I can keep up with the 20's though... This is only the second time I'll be on my bike in about 3 months...

This is an estimate but it should be close.

Gary, what are you adding to your ride and when? I'm interested in anything additional after the 2 loops (would be tough for me to do it before).

Featured bonus for the ride was crossing paths with the 20 mph group and seeing Len start the CX season early!

You do one of those "slo mo flips" and your first reaction is to see if anyone saw it. If the answer is no, you check self and bike, re-mount then pedal away.

If the answer is yes, it's amazing how quickly you can bounce back to your feet and declare, "I'm ok, I'm ok". Of course it takes a moment to realize that you either broke a bone or something on your bike. Luckily, I only scuffed a pedal.

But, I think what I will take from today is this quote by Gary as we rode through Concord: "The fear of getting killed takes your mind off of riding 5 hours"
Just found this quote that is inside the WWI memorial atop Mt. Greylock: "Life is no life to him that dare not die." - though I'd not like my obit to reveal my death was caused by some boneheaded move....
