Sat 6/13 morning ride

Post by ahamilton »

Not ready to race yet, but want to get a "race simulation" ride done early Saturday so I can be back for a cookout. Flexible on start location, terrain, and start time, but need to start by 10:00 AM. Berlin Park n Ride would be a strong contender as a start location. Post suggestions/constraints so we can come up with a ride that suits more people than just me.

Al - how about this?

CRW Ride
Berlin-Bolton Country Tour
Saturday - June 13

Ride Type: Map and Cue Sheet, Arrowed
Times and Routes: 9:30 in Bolton for 28 and 41 miles.
Leaders: Eli Post (617-306-1838)

The longer ride goes through Harvard to the Fruitlands. Terrain is moderately hilly. The lunch stop is at Bambini's in Northboro. The 28/41 split is at mile 26 giving you plenty of time to decide whether to do the longer ride. The ride will proceed light rain or drizzle, but not continuous heavy rain..

Bruce, the CRW route looks good, but I'd prefer to start 20-30 minutes before the ride to avoid getting stuck in traffic. I think I'd probably be more interested in the 28 mile route, but ride there from home which would add another few miles of flattish stuff at both ends.

Gary, I hear you. The cookout I'm attending happens to be at my place, and if I get home just in time to shower before the guests arrive, it'll be me on the spit. So I have to start the ride near my place, or start an hour earlier if I have to drive to it.

Let's hold off on a final decision for a few more hours...

I'm all for anything I can ride over to - Westborough/Hopkinton, etc works also. But If everyone is meeting elsewhere I can increase my carbon footprint for a day...

Bruce, how does a Westboro start sound? I've done 3 or 4 rides from there this year and the change of scenery is nice. Some good roads, too. And if you really want to test your legs, all you have to do is try to hold Rob "lighter than air" Follansbee's wheel up some of the climbs. (I swear he has helium-filled tubes in his wheels and frame.)

At risk of repeating my no show last weekend, I'm planning to hit this ride wherever it starts.

The logical place is the same place I've parked the last two times. There's a shopping mall just off the rotary in the center of Westboro called... hmmm... Bay State Commons. Very new and very large. I parked behind the Roche Bros. store.

Takes about 30-35 minutes to get there, so 8:10 at my place works.

Doug,

I was planning on riding down from Hudson then limping home after the ride. Where are you coming from in Marlboro?

Bruce, I'll be ready plenty early, so if you want to stop for coffee (I'd love to), then come any time after 7:45.

Reeegan,

Sorry for the late reply, but I'm in Marlboro between Hanafords and the Solomon Pond Mall. Hitting Rt20 and Boundary St at about 8:30. Cell is 602-321-7686 if you get this in time.
