5:30 AM Stow Plaza Ride Wed

Post by teamkimball »

Team
So here is the final plan for tomorrows ride. Gary will leave Harvard around 4:45 and ride toward my house. I will meet him on the road and plan on double timing to Stow Plaza. We should arrive at 5:30 am. We are shooting for a 90 min + ride. I want to be home around 7:00 - 7:15 or so. The pace will be 17 MPH or so, EASY. If the weather is dodgy I will send out an email / post at 4:45 AM and invite you to my house for a spin.

Who is in?????

I'd pay money to see "Speed Kills" keep it under 20 mph for more than 5 minutes. I don't think it can be done!

Shhhhh..... you are revealing all my dirty little secrets. I can't understand why more people don't join us for our rides. Last year we did pretty well and only dropped a few people in the first few miles out of Stow.

The New Updated Kimball Pace Equation:

Base of 15 MPH. To this, add:

a) .2 mph for each person in the train. Thus 10 people, adds 2 MPH to the average. This gets you to 17 MPH
b) Kimball claims an EASY ride. Add.5 mph- you are now at 17.5 MPH
c) When Steve- says this his legs are tired, please add another 1 mph (he is lying) - you are now at 18.5 mph
d) When Steve claims he is doing a brick- and wants to go easy on the bike- add another .5 mph- we are now at 19
e) Steve can not possibly ride less than 20 mph average in training- so add another 1- there you are: 20 MPH minimum average

This is the Steve " I am aging up this year" KImball new math..........

Well today was a memorable ride….. Headed out to meet Gary S and came across snow on the road. This was a non issue for the new nimble Cyclocross Bike. We met and turned to head towards Stow Plaza. It was actually really comfortable out, what a nice treat. As we get on Rt 117 to head east the road conditions change a bit and the roads turn to a sheet of ice. I am leading out and make it over a large patch of icy road and hear a crash from behind. Gary goes down and manages to slide for at least 50 feet. He is little black and blue but ok. We decide to ditch the road ride and head to my house for a spin. Yuck!!!

Back at my house, I changed my clothes and headed down for a spin and…… My basement it filled with my Tri Pals. It is a surprise 40th B-day party. Now that was a pleasant surprise. Thanks everybody. Happy aging up birthday to me.

Yes, today will be a good day and it is nice to be 40.
