Myself and a few die hard roadies lined up for a packed field in the 3/4. I drove up with the "new" Prez (Smudger) who I think was making his official race debut of 2014 (and apparently his finale). We met Kevin "Bobblehead" Teves who was coming off a strong showing at GMSR. Bill "Ike" Turner rounded out the MRC team fresh off a weekend long bender in Portsmouth. My feet fell asleep during the 30 min wait at the start line as they towed cars. I spent some time lamenting my hairy legs as my wife denied my request to shave them for the mayors cup (based purely on wind tunnel science of course). We finally started and I spent some additional time trying to clip in which is apparently not my strong suit. I put my head down and slowly crawled to the front aft a few laps. I stayed top 10 and even resisted the urge to go after the "free beer" prime, which not ironically is the first siting I had of Bill Turner. I popped onto Bills wheel for a lap and inhaled some IPA fumes but then had to move up as I felt a swarm coming. This was kind of a sketchy course but shockingly no crashes up to that point. 5 to go and there was a single rider out front dangling. I mistakenly end up on the front and decided to ride tempo for a bit before pulling off, nothing crazy just keeping the guy in check. we caught him with 3 to go and the pace slowed again but I anticipated some attacks and slotted in when the pace picked up. 2 to go and it was full gas, lots of watts were used but stayed top 10. Last lap and I had to sprint down the back stretch to maintain my 8th position. I had a feeling the win was out the window but not from a lack of trying as we were going 32+ into the 3rd of 4 corners. This was a hand dragger yet some idiot from Greenline pedaled through the corner at his own demise. When he crashed I had to slow and go around, lost a few places and opened up the sprint for at least 250 meters and made up 4 spots or so for 6th, half a wheel out of the money. Overall great race, Bill top 30 with a buzz on, Smudger finished same time with 2hours a week of volume. Kevin top 50 after a hard weekend in Vermont.

I'm happy with my form before mayors cup.

I'm pretty sure once I showed my two day bender wheel to Cratty in the early laps it put a little spark into his legs, so I will take a little credit for his awesome finish. Great day with MRC''s the post race food and beverages topped it off just too bad the Pats sucked.

Awesome job Jeremy. And same goes to Bill, Kevin, and Smudger... this crit looked a little hairy which helped contribute to my decision to do QuadCross. I still felt guilty for not helping the team out. I will be there at Mayors Cup, although I honestly doubt I will be of much help in a 2/3 race.
