So the MRC Enduro Squad (we're still looking for additional members to augment the core group of one) headed up to Thunder Mountain for Round 4 of the Eastern States Cup Enduro Series. Rain on Saturday made for treacherous conditions but thankfully things (mostly) dried out by Sunday. Being at a mountain with a chairlift, the course essentially consisted of 5 downhill runs, 2 that were "fun" and 3 that were "legitimately terrifying". I probably pedaled hard for only about 2-3 minutes out of the total of 30 minutes of race segments.
Highlights:
Kept rubber side (mostly) down
Finished 12th (tied for 11th but lost out on a countback on the last stage) out of 27 in the 40-49 category (no cat's)
Had a blast
Won the timed uphill stage -- fastest time of all racers (out of 185 total) up one particular climb won a new Fox Transfer Dropper post, sweet!
My son survived in what could be billed as a "poor parenting choice" for introducing him to the sport at this particular event. Hopefully the next one will be less insane.
Lowlights:
None really, great weekend
Hey, I even made the news!
